Peralta’s Educational Day Cruise in the Delta
Saturday, April 28, 2007

The purpose of the cruise was to practice on-the-water reading of charts, and to make observations of compass readings, depths, and navigational aids. And have a good time.

Swizzle Stix arrives at the morning rendezvous point on the San Joaquin River in Antioch. On board with Captain Gerry are First Mate Kathy, and passengers Conway and Dorothy.

Ciera Sue takes a bow-on bearing on the launch ramp on the shore to establish a fix for the rendezvous point. Hand-held compass and GPS were also used during the cruise. Sue and Fred are aboard.

Grady’s boat arrives at Brannan Island State Park on Three Mile Slough, with Otis, Norm, and Arnold.

Kevin and Bill arrive on Kevin and Shirley’s new Beachcraft named appropriately, Shirley.

Picnic lunch at the park.

Cruise Director Rick leads a discussion about what we learned about charting during the morning cruise.

The Peralta boats lined up at the dock. Six of those boats are ours.

Preparing to depart the park. That’s Joe and Gloria’s Bayliner in the front. Alan, Josette, and Gloria’s sister were with them on the morning cruise.

Heading home down the Sacramento River near Rio Vista. In the distance are Rick, Josette, and Barbara on Pronto.
